Praying in congregation is obligatory. Ibn Kathīr said regarding where Allāh, Exalted is He, says {Establish prayer and pay zakāt (alms for the poor) and bow with those who bow}, “Many scholars use this āyah as evidence that praying in congregation is obligatory” [Tafsīr Al Qurān Al Aẓīm p.20].
