It was narrated from Ibn ‘Abbās (may Allāh be pleased with him) that he said, “When ‘Umar (may Allāh be pleased with him) became Muslim, the polytheists said: The people have taken vengeance on us.” [Graded as ṣaḥīh (authentic) by Al Ḥākim and Al Dhahabī agreed with him].
