Al Imām Al Nawawī said: The evidence that our companions use to prove that Abū Bakr’s knowledge was immense is the authentic ḥadīth in which he said, “By Allāh, I will fight anybody who differentiates between prayer and zakāt (alms giving)” [Tahdhīb Al Asmā` Wa Al Lughāt by Al Nawawī]
