It was narrated from Abū Al ‘Āṣ that he went to the Prophet (May Allāh praise him and Peace be upon him) and said, “O Messenger of Allāh! Shaytān came between me, my prayer and my recitation, confusing me therein.” Allāh’s Messenger (May Allāh praise him and Peace be upon him) said, “That is a shaytān (devil) called Khinzab. If you detect him, seek refuge with Allāh from him and spit three times to your left.” So, I did that and Allāh made him leave me.” [Reported by Muslim: 2203]
