The prohibition of always praying in the same place in the mosque

  1. It was narrated from ‘Abd Al Raḥmān Ibn Shibl that he said, “Allāh’s Messenger (May Allāh praise him and Peace be upon him) forbade pecking like a crow, resting one’s forearms on the ground like a beast of prey and a man continually praying in the same place like a camel gets used to one place [Al Silsilah Al Ṣaḥīḥah 1168].
  2. It was narrated from Mu’āwiyah Ibn Qurrah that he said, “Mu’ādh Ibn Jabal said to his son, “My dear boy, when you pray, pray as if you are saying farewell and you will never pray again. And know, my dear boy, that believers die between two good deeds; one that they have already done and one that they have not done yet.”” [Ḥilyatu Al Awliyā` 1/234].
  3. It was narrated from Ja’far that he said, “I heard Thābit Al Bunānī say, “Prayer is service to Allāh on the Earth. If Allāh, the Supreme and Sublime, had known anything more virtuous than prayer, he would not have said “So the angels called him while he was standing in prayer in the chamber."“ [Āli ‘Imrān, Āyah 39]. [Ḥilyatu Al Awliyā` 2/320].
  4. After he was paralysed, Al Rabī’ Ibn Khaitham used to be carried between two men to his people’s mosque and ‘Abdullāh’s companions used to say “O Abū Yazīd, Allāh has given you a dispensation, so why don’t you pray at home!?” So, he would say, “What you say is true, but I heard the muezzin say “come to success” so the call must be answered even if that means crawling.” [Ḥilyatu Al Awliyā` 2/113].
