It was narrated from Mu’āwiyah Ibn Qurrah that his father said, “During the time of Allāh’s Messenger (May Allāh praise him and Peace be upon him), we were forbidden from forming lines between pillars and were directed away from them” [Al Silsilah Al Ṣaḥīḥah 335].
