Abū Hurayrah (May Allāh be pleased with him) said that the Prophet (May Allāh praise him and Peace be upon him) said, “Allāh said, “I have split the prayer in half between Myself and My slave: When a slave says “Praise be to Allāh Lord of the Worlds”, Allāh, Exalted be He, says “My slave has lovingly praised Me.” When he says “The Merciful, The One Who Bestows Mercy”, Allāh, Exalted be He, says, “My slave has praised Me.” When he says “You alone we worship and You alone we beseech for help”, He says, “This is between Me and My slave and My slave shall have what he asks for”. When he says, “Guide us to the straight path…. And not that of those who are astray”, He says “This is for My slave and My slave shall have what he asks for”” [Reported by Imam Bukhārī: 395].
