It is desirable for somebody who is in a state of janābah (major ritual impurity) to perform wuḍū if he wishes to have intercourse again. The evidence for this is the ḥadīth (narration) of Abū Sa‘īd Al Khudrī (may Allāh be please with him) wherein the Messenger of Allāh said, “When one of you goes to his family, then wants to return, he should perform wuḍū” [Reported by Imam Muslim: 308].
