Linguistically, the word wuḍū` is derived from al waḍā’atu which means perfection and cleanliness. Islamically, it means using water on the four parts of the body, which are the face, the arms, the head and the feet, in the way specified by the religion as an act of worship for Allāh, Exalted be He.
